Healthier Chocolate Cherry Muffins

Welcome to the sweetest time of the year – cherry season! As these vibrant little fruits grace the market shelves, it's time to indulge in their juicy goodness and discover delightful cherry-inspired recipes. Get your taste buds ready! These chocolate cherry muffins are delicious AND relatively healthy! The perfect summer snack!


3/4 cup applesauce

1/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup honey

1 egg

3/4 cup plain greek yogurt

2 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup regular flour

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup chopped cherries (frozen works in the off season!)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)



Set over to 425 degrees (will decrease to 350 after 5 mins). Spray muffin tin (or line with parchment liners).

Combine applesauce, sugar, honey, egg, yogurt & vanilla. Whisk together until no lumps. Add flours, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt and stir. Do not over mix. Fold in cherries and chocolate chips. Fill muffin cups and place in oven at 425 for 5 minutes. Reduce to 350 after 5 minutes and bake for another 15. Do not remove from oven while temperature decreasing.
